PDF Cancellation

Due to low readership, we have cancelled the PDF and Digital Magazine versions of The Beer Connoisseur. This does not impact the bi-monthly premium web magazine or daily editorial eNewsletters; of which readership in those channels is the highest in the history of the publication.

If you are among the few that did enjoy the designed PDF, then we are very sorry for this cancellation. We hope you continue to enjoy our stories, news and reviews by reading our website, social media and daily editorial eNewsletters.

Cheers,

Lynn Davis

I need a PDF version! I paid for a "PREMIUM" membership.

Hello BeerBob, you are welcome to contact customer service by clicking "account services" at the head of the website so we can address your concern.

The Editorial Dept. is failing to observe that the publication exists to provide content to paying subscribers. The web only version is a poor substitute for what your subscribers were expecting. Simply suggesting subscribers contact "account services" falls far short of the obligation you have to your readership. As an original Lifetime subscriber, and having been patient with the difficulties of publishing in the past, I have submitted my concerns, and encourage all other subscribers to do the same. At this moment, I feel betrayed by Beer Connoisseur, and implore you to honor the simple request of delivering what your subscribers expect via the subscription contract.

Hello Sleffler, We respect your feelings and recommend that you contact customer service to resolve. Cheers, BC

Today BC provided a personal reply to my e-mail concerns, explaining... "...the highest read PDF in 2017 (via download from our website) and digital flip-style version (Barnes & Noble, Amazon, Zinio, Readly, etc) combined is approximately 100 readers out of 65,000." Clearly this level of readership is unsustainable, and it is understandable that a change was necessary. It is just unfortunate that we were informed via a passive notice.

What the h@ll, I was a hardcopy magazine subscriber , and then I stuck with you when you went to online only...now you really can't even call yourselves a magazine if you actually don't produce a magazine, you are a blog.

I'll be cancelling my subscription when renewal comes around. This is unacceptable that you cancel something I paid for and one of the reasons I subscribed in the first place. I mean, how hard is to create a PDF? You could email it to the people who want it. Clearly not interested in your subscribers but only the subscription fee. You should just fold up now since you're not really a magazine anymore. Good riddance.

While I am disappointed that the PDF is not available anymore, I understand the reason behind the decision. However, it is a little unprofessional to still have the link open to the option. I would take the "Download PDF version" option and instead have a note on the sidebar saying this option is not available anymore. Thank you and hope to see this change on the website soon.
