Revolution Oktoberfest

You have to love this time of year. The nights start to get cooler, the leaves begin to change, and, most importantly, Oktoberfests begin coming out of the woodwork. Unfortunately, this easy-drinker could use a bit more work towards style. It pours a light amber, reminiscent of orange blossom honey, with great clarity and an off-white head that sticks around. Out of the glass comes toasty, bready malt with light rich melanoidins and a sweet, sugary aroma in the finish. The flavor has low bitterness with faint, spicy, noble-esque hop characeristics along with some traits similar to the aroma. You get more of the toasty bready malt up front in the flavor, but it's overshadowed by an even more exaggerated sweetness of burnt sugar & dates. These sweet notes are what keeps it from being exemplary of the style, but it still remains an enjoyable brew all the same.
