Summer Vacation by Low Road Brewing is being judged as a 28C Wild Specialty Beer. This pours with a collapsing fizzy white head, a pale straw color with a subtle haze to it. The nose of this beer is pretty interesting, with the mix of aromas coming together as a kettle corn amalgam. The tart notes are missing for the most part and I'm not getting the expected pina colada notes, as the nuttiness instead takes the cake. On tasting, It is quite tart with a strong citric acid component and toasted coconut through to the finish. The coconut is really welcome and adds a silky nutty quality and the lime adds some astringency. This beer lacks a bit in terms of carbonation, likely a function of the crowler packaging. This beer is quite clean on the whole, but pretty aggressively sour. Again, without the coconut, this would be even more aggressive. Given the carbonation concerns and the lime astringency, it impacts the drinkability quite a bit. In addition, the pineapple has virtually disappeared in the production of the beer and would also be a welcome addition here. With that said, if you're a fan of sharp and aggressively sour, though clean, beers, this could be the beer for you.
