Tumblefield by Social Fox Brewing is being evaluated here as 21C Hazy IPA under the new 2021 BJCP guidelines. The beer itself pours a very hazy, nearly turbid bronze color, much darker than expected. It also has a frothy off-white head that sticks around throughout. The nose has a lot of stone fruit, plum, peach and light mango notes as well as a faint celery seed note that may be from crystal malt. Mostly hop-forward here, with a light hint of specialty malts and toast. On tasting, moderately bitter with some slight vegetal notes from the hopping that are then taken over by stone fruit, again, and some mango notes. It's not a super bright hoppy flavor, nor would I call it "juicy," but it has a bit of an old-school Midwest IPA character with a hazy twist. More malty than expected, but mostly balanced overall. Faint astringency at the edges of the tongue continue into the drying finish. On the whole, not as bright or fresh as one may expect from the hazy style, but serviceable.
