Genesee Brew House Releases New Grüngeist Pale Ale

Genesee Brew House has announced the release of its Grüngeist Pale Ale, the latest in its Pilot Batch Series. For more, see the release below:

The latest release from the Genesee Brew House Pilot Batch series encourages craft beer lovers to rethink their expectations of the classic American Pale Ale. Pronounced “Groon-guy-st,” the Grüngeist™ Pale Ale is an inventive take on a classic hoppy style, featuring a German hop that showcases a unique profile unlike any other. Flavor and aroma forward with just the right amount of bitterness, the innovative hop creates a juicy and floral hoppy ale; and is the perfect addition to Genesee Brew House’s repertoire of classic styles with unique twists.

“We wanted to offer a crisp, clean beer with the fresh, juicy flavor and aroma profile everyone loves in hoppy craft beers,” Brewmaster Dean Jones said. “Our Pilot Batch series is all about innovating classic styles in unexpected ways, and this beer is a truly unique offering that will surprise Genesee fans and craft beer drinkers alike.”

Grüngeist™ translates to “Green Ghost,” aptly named for the brew’s ghostly flavor characteristics. Each sip of the innovative Grüngeist™ Pale Ale provides a slightly different aroma and taste sensation, just as its namesake may shift in and out of sight. Grüngeist™ Pale Ale showcases unique hop notes of citrus, stone fruit, passion fruit and a subtle floral component, all contributed by its namesake lead hop. The beer is then balanced with Simcoe for a nice touch of bitterness that Pale Ale lovers expect.

The creative brew was crafted in partnership with Hop Head Farms. Genesee Brew House teamed up with the Michigan-based grower and importer to be one of the first breweries to experiment and brew with the farm’s Grüngeist™ hop, which it imports from Germany.

“We were thrilled to partner with Genesee Brew House for the creation of the Grüngeist™ Pale Ale,” Jim Passios, Chief Operating Officer of Hop Head Farms stated. “Dean’s creative exploration of innovative brews with the Pilot Batch series drew us to bring this unique hop to Genesee.”

The limited-time-only Grüngeist™ Pale Ale will be available in six-pack bottles, as well as on draft in select bars and restaurants, including the Genesee Brew House in Rochester, New York. Beer drinkers can purchase Grüngeist™ at select locations throughout the East, Mid-Atlantic and the Great Lakes.
