Kindling Golden Ale by Odell Brewing Co. is being evaluated as a Blonde Ale (Category 18A) from the 2015 BJCP Style Guidelines.

This beer pours a hazy bright gold with a fine, white head that lingers for a short time. The aroma features a moderately bready, grainy malt character with a touch of light bread dough. A very light floral hop aroma emerges as it warms and vents, which gives way to light stone fruit consisting mostly of peach leather.

The flavor follows with light bready, grainy maltiness up front and light peach esters developing behind the malt. A touch of biscuit peeks out as it opens up. Very light floral hop flavor hits mid-palate, along with very low hop bitterness that lingers into the aftertaste. There is a light residual sweetness in the middle that turns medium-dry in the finish. This is a medium-bodied beer with moderate carbonation that is lightly creamy on the palate.

This is a smooth, well-brewed and easy-drinking beer that is sure to be a pleaser during the upcoming warmer weather. It is malt-forward but very well balanced with the hop character and peach esters helping to create a refreshing beer. This is one you will want to enjoy fresh.
