VLB Berlin and DuPont Host Africa Brewing Conference

VLB Berlin and DuPont have announced the inaugural Africa Brewing Conference in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The conference "will focus on sharing knowledge and strengthening relationships in the brewing industry in Africa," per a press release.

ADDIS ABABA, Ethiopia – DuPont Nutrition & Biosciences (DuPont) and Versuchs-und Lehranstalt für Brauerei in Berlin (VLB) today officially opened the inaugural Africa Brewing Conference dedicated to sharing brewing knowledge, strengthening relationships and discussing best practices for the brewing and malting industry in Africa. The event, which is supported through a partnership with “Ethiopia Invest”, will run through May 23, 2019, in Addis Ababa.VLB Berlin and DuPont announced their collaboration at the BrauBeviale 2018 trade show in Nuremberg, Germany, last fall. With a focus on the technical and scientific aspects of beermaking, the Africa Brewing Conference will bring together managers, brewers and leading technical staff who work on production, filling/packaging and quality assurance for breweries and maltings.

This week’s conference will cover topics along the supply chain of beer production, such as brewing with barley and nonbarley malt, sustainable process optimization from the brew house up to filling, and aspects of product quality. The schedule also will include a strategic outlook on the developments of the beer markets in East Africa. The organizers are proud to welcome to Addis Ababa more than 170 delegates from 20 countries.
