Apple Watch Series 10: Everything We Know So Far

Get the latest insights on the Apple Watch Series 10, expected to debut in late summer 2024. Discover its potential features, price, design changes, and how it could redefine the smartwatch market.

Apple Watch Series 10: Everything We Know So Far

Buzz is growing for the highly anticipated Apple Watch Series 10, also known as the Apple Watch X. Expected to debut in late summer or early fall of 2024, alongside the iPhone 16, the next-generation smartwatch is ready to captivate tech enthusiasts worldwide.

Here’s everything we know about Apple Watch Series 10, including its potential release date, possible price and specifications.

Apple Watch Series 10 – Specifications

The Apple Watch Series 9 introduced a notable performance boost with the S9 chip, enabling faster Siri responses, health data access, and the convenient Double Tap gesture.

The Apple Watch Series 10 will likely build upon this with an even more powerful processor. However, while rumors of expanded health tracking, including sleep apnea and hypertension detection, were circulating, it appears these features may be delayed due to development challenges.

According to Gurman, Apple encountered significant challenges in developing new health features for the Apple Watch, including unreliable hypertension detection.

Sleep apnea detection, while potentially functional, is currently hindered by the inability to measure blood oxygen saturation levels in the U.S. due to legal disputes with Masimo. While a September resolution could pave the way for sleep apnea monitoring on the Apple Watch Series 10, this remains uncertain.

Given these hurdles, it seems these highly anticipated health features will likely be delayed until at least the following year. It’s not uncommon for new technology developments to face setbacks.

Apple Watch Series 10 – Design and Display

Rumors are swirling about a potential design overhaul for the Apple Watch Series 10. This could mark the most significant visual transformation of the wearable since the Series 7, setting a new standard for Apple's smartwatch.

Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo predicts a sleeker profile for the Apple Watch Series 10. This slimmer design could accommodate a larger display, potentially reaching two inches compared to the Series 9's 1.7-inch screen.

To complement the thinner profile, the Apple Watch Series 10 might introduce new case sizes. Current options include 41mm and 45mm, but the next generation could see 45mm as the smaller size with a new 49mm option to rival the existing Apple Watch Ultra.

There's been conflicting speculation about the Apple Watch Series 10's display technology. While initial reports suggested a potential upgrade to microLED, offering superior color accuracy and energy efficiency, more recent information indicates Apple may have shelved these plans. If microLED is indeed off the table, we can expect refinements to the existing OLED technology, possibly focusing on improved power consumption.

Should these changes be implemented, then the options are endless. Many different industries have been trying to crack the smartwatch market, with casinos in developed countries leading the charge.

Take New Zealand, for example. Consumers are shifting more and more towards gambling on mobile devices, preferring the flexibility and access that comes from using an app. If the Apple Watch Series 10 does come with a larger display, this will open up an opportunity for a range of online casinos NZ to deepen their foothold in the mobile market. Bigger display means more potential for games and engaging with casinos.

Apple Watch Series 10 – Price

Apple has maintained consistent pricing for the Apple Watch Series in recent years. Based on this trend, the Apple Watch Series 10 is expected to follow suit. Similar to the Series 9, the upcoming model will likely start at $399 for the GPS-only version and $499 for the GPS + Cellular option. The high-end Apple Watch Ultra is anticipated to retain its $799 price point.

Apple Watch Series 10 – Release Date Speculations

Given Apple's historical pattern of unveiling new Apple Watches alongside iPhone launches, it's highly likely the Apple Watch Series 10 will be introduced alongside the iPhone 16 this fall.

The Apple Watch Series 10 promises to be a pivotal chapter in the evolution of the smartwatch. While eagerly awaited health features may encounter development challenges, the potential for a redesigned chassis, advanced display technology, and enhanced performance positions Apple to solidify its dominance in the wearable market.
