Beer drinkers like to laugh. What’s the funniest drinking story you can share with us?
I always associate drinking beer with sports! The last time I went to a baseball game (Dodgers vs. Tigers in Los Angeles) I went with two guy friends. The guys left our seats to go get fresh beers, and I stayed watching the game. As soon as they left a baseball flew into the stands and landed right at my feet. The two guys I was with were huge Tigers fans and there I was – sitting between two empty seats, on the jumbo-tron, reaching down and picking up a baseball hit by the Tigers batter. Needless to say, they were beyond jealous when they returned.
Who's the coolest person you've had a beer with?
My dad. My dad isn’t a huge drinker at all. But when he finds something he actually likes to drink (most often a lighter beer), he’s an absolute blast to drink with. There’s something about doing “adult” things like drinking with your parents or siblings that to me is always a hilarious time.
What are a few of your favorite craft beers and why?
I love ciders (not a beer I know, but they’re my favorite). I grew up in San Diego, there’s a small town up in the mountains in SD called Julian. Julian is famous for apple everything, apple cider, apple pie and my favorite, the most amazing flavors of hard cider. They have an apple pie cider and a cherry apple that I absolutely love. Over the holidays I drove up there with my family to do a tasting and we came home with cases of ciders, enough for the next year at least!
Do you have a favorite (craft) brewery or breweries and why?
There’s a small craft brewery near where I grew up in Solana Beach called Culture Brewing Co. It’s near the beach, in an art district and they allow dogs in the brewery and on the patio. It has a great open air, San Diego vibe and is one of my favorite places to stop by when I’m home.
Have you attended any beer events or festivals that you particularly enjoyed? What made them stand out?
The last time I was in Michigan we went to a harvest fest where we got to taste a bunch of incredible beers, not craft, but there I discovered Redbridge, now one of my favorites. It is fantastic and gluten free. I also love a great blonde or amber ale. And of course, being Michigan, there were many awesome ciders all made from local ingredients.
What projects do you have brewing?
I have a couple projects currently brewing. One is a film called In Vino starring Ed Asner & Sean Young premiering this year and secondly working with my comedy girls creating funny online content and parody songs to share under our team umbrella “Pumps Comedy."
