Wild Leap Brew Co. Chief Brewing Officer Chris Elliott Talks Truck Chaser Creamsicle Double IPA

We spoke with Wild Leap Brew Co. Chief Brewing Officer Chris Elliott about Truck Chaser Creamsicle Double IPA.

BC: Where does this beer’s name come from?
I realized that no matter how old I get I still find myself chasing trucks. When I was a kid it was the ice cream truck. Now it’s the beer truck, looking for those limited releases.

BC: What’s your favorite aspect of this beer (flavor, aroma, etc.)?
I really enjoy the flavor of this beer. It blends citrus-forward hops with vanilla and orange. We decided to make the dry-hopped double IPA flavors dominant with a creamsicle-like aftertaste. It is a beer that really changes flavor as it warms, so each sip can be a little different.

BC: Do you know a story – or have a personal story – that revolves around this beer?
Before we opened Wild Leap, I worked for Blue Bell Ice Cream as my day job and I worked at a brewery in the evenings. I would always bring sales samples of ice cream and novelties to the brewery and make beer and ice cream concoctions. It was important to me to have a series that involved both, and the creamsicle-style bars were always my favorite.

BC: Can you describe this beer in 10 words or less?
A juicy double IPA stirred with a melting creamsicle bar.
