We spoke with Seedstock Brewery Head Brewer Jason Abbott about Dusseldorf Alt.
BC: Who came up with this beer’s recipe?
Nearly all of our beers are collaborative efforts between Seedstock’s three business partners – Ron, Jason and Frank – and this beer was no exception.
BC: What’s your favorite aspect of this beer (flavor, aroma, etc.)?
We like this beer because it has a great balance of maltiness and bitterness.
BC: Where does this beer’s name come from?
We don’t really ‘name’ our beers. We stay pretty simple and just call our beers by their beer style. Maybe we’re not creative, or maybe we're lazy – we’re not sure, but we like things simple.
BC: Is this your “desert island beer?”
We’ve never really thought about that. We could drink any beer on a desert island!
BC: Can you describe this beer in 10 words or less?
Malty with a slightly fruity aroma, clean and assertive hop bitterness.
BC: Do you know a story – or have a personal story – that revolves around this beer?
We developed this beer after Seedstock Owner Ron enjoyed many great Altbiers in Germany 10 years or so ago. We tried to capture that local, flavorful spirit!
BC: What's a good food pairing for this beer?
Anything with gravy!
