Redhook Brewery Nick Crandall Talks Bicoastal IPA

Redhook Brewery Nick Crandall Talks Bicoastal IPA

We spoke with Redhook Brewery Nick Crandall about Bicoastal IPA.

BC: Who came up with this beer’s recipe?
The idea for Bicoastal started as a collaborative idea, but the recipe for Bicoastal was created by me.

BC: What’s your favorite aspect of this beer (flavor, aroma, etc.)?
I love the marriage of the fruity esters and tropical hop aromas.

BC: Where does this beer’s name come from?
As a bicoastal brewery we wanted to create a beer that captured the best of both coasts. Bicoastal is a nod to Seattle, WA and Portsmouth, NH where we have breweries and the style, which is a mashup of a hazy New England IPA and a tropical West Coast IPA.

BC: Can you describe this beer in 10 words or less?
Delicious, hazy, mashup of New England style West Coast goodness.

BC: What's a good food pairing for this beer?
I regularly eat a vegetarian diet, so I like Bicoastal IPA with dishes like charred brussels sprouts, and broccoli rabe salad and if you’re looking for something sweet to pair it with, Orange Sherbet.
