Red Brick Brewing Co., the oldest craft brewery in Georgia, announced today that it will cease bottling its beers in order to fully focus on canning.
According to a press release, Red Brick has seen impressive growth from its canned offerings, which debuted in 2014 with Laughing Skull Amber Ale. The brewery will continue to offer limited quantities of special release bottles as part of its brewery-only Brick & Mortar series.
Following what seems to be a trend in the industry, Red Brick President and Brewmaster Garett Lockhart said this in a release: “We continue to focus on sustainability and we feel that cans are a more sustainable option. Aluminum is one of the most widely recycled consumer packages in the United States. In addition, aluminum provides our products complete protection from harmful UV light.”
The brewery's year-round and seasonal releases are already avaliable in six-packs of 12-ounce cans, and the brewery's popular Brick Mason limited-release series will be available in four-packs of 16-oz. cans starting with Hype Whale Imperial Stout in February 2017.
