Miel Brewery & Taproom Owner and Head Brewer Alex Peyroux Talks Apple Crumble

We spoke with Miel Brewery & Taproom Owner and Head Brewer Alex Peyroux about Apple Crumble.

BC: Who came up with this beer’s recipe?
I came up with our crumble series recipes!

BC: What’s your favorite aspect of this beer (flavor, aroma, etc.)?
My favorite aspect of this beer is how refreshing it is - it's never too sweet, too sour, too rich or too thin. When we make heavily fruited sours, we try to capture the essence of the dessert it's based on, but still focus on making it approachable and easy to drink for people new to the style. I love that I can finish a pint and it doesn't overload my palate.

BC: Where does this beer’s name come from?
With beers like this, we want the drinker to order it with certain expectations. The name is straightforward so people know what's coming!

BC: Is this your “desert island beer?”
It's up there for sure, but I can't shake my love for the classic styles right now!

BC: Can you describe this beer in 10 words or less?
An apple crumble in a glass!

BC: Do you know a story – or have a personal story – that revolves around this beer?
Sweets are a big part of any meal down south. Peach cobblers and apple crumbles with a scoop of vanilla ice cream is my go-to for any dessert.

BC: What's a good food pairing for this beer?
An apple crumble, duh! This beer pairs great with other desserts like fruit tarts or ice cream as well.
