Lawson's Finest Liquids Founding Brewer Sean Lawson Talks Super Session #3 (Comet)

We spoke with Lawson's Finest Liquids Founding Brewer Sean Lawson about Super Session #3 (Comet).

BC: What’s your favorite aspect of this beer (flavor, aroma, etc.)?
My favorite aspect is that it’s a lower-alcohol beer (4.8% ABV) that delivers the full-flavored experience of an American IPA.

BC: Where does this beer’s name come from?
This brew is sessionable. In other words, you can drink several of them at a time quite easily without becoming overly intoxicated. The flavor and aroma are just SUPER!

BC: Is this your “desert island beer?"
This could be one beer in my desert island quiver. If I had to pick just one though, I’ll take a Little Sip IPA instead.

BC: Can you describe this beer in 10 words or less?
Quaffable, aromatic, delicious, grainy, lupin-forward, light on the palate.

BC: Do you know a story – or have a personal story – that revolves around this beer?
Super Session IPA is a series of single-hop IPAs that were conceived at our original brewery in Warren, VT. They are all built on the same base recipe and I gave them numbers #1-11, each brewed with a different hop. We launched the series as our second-most popular year-round beer in 2015. We’ve kept people guessing about the numbers and why they come out in random order. Super Session #3 - Comet is special in that this is the last of our single-hop Super Sessions to be released for distribution. This summer, we’ll relaunch the brand as Super Session IPA (no number or hop name associated). It will feature a blend of our favorite hops to bring us the finest and freshest Super Session ever!

BC: What's a good food pairing for this beer?
I love this beer with flatbread pizza right out of the oven (American flatbread at the Waitsfield restaurant with their New Vermont Sausage to be exact!), or with a soft, warm pretzel with house-made beer cheese at our taproom.
