Flying Saucer Debuts 2016 Election Glasses Featuring Clinton and Trump

Flying Saucer Draught Emporium, the national family of taprooms known for its vast craft beer selection, has debuted its 2016 U.S. presidential glasses. The election season is a favorite among the Saucer’s regulars, affectionately referred to as Beerknurds. Since the Saucer election glasses debuted in 2004, sales of the glasses have correctly predicted the outcome of the last three presidential elections. This year marks the first time that glasses will be available for purchase online, allowing people across the country an opportunity to own a presidential Saucer glass, regardless of their proximity to one of the 16 Flying Saucer locations.

“This election is a freak show, and everyone needs a beer to get through it,” said Shannon Wynne, co-founder of Flying Saucer. “Our Beerknurds haven’t been wrong in the last 12 years. The online sales mean that more people can own a part of this historic election season, and they’ll get a keepsake beer vessel to drown their sorrows, no matter who wins.”

This year’s designs feature Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton – “Slick Hilly” – and Republican nominee Donald Trump – “Big Plans, Small Hands.” The glasses, which retail for $8, are now available online at electionglass.beerknurd.com and in all of Flying Saucer’s 16 locations. Online and in-person voters can purchase single glasses or a double pack featuring both candidates. If somebody wants to have a big party, they can buy their favorite candidate’s glass in a case of 24. Each location will keep a tally of its local glass sales on a banner above the bar, and final results of this year’s election glass sales will be announced on Election Day, Nov. 8.
