Bootstrap Brewing Owner and Brewer Steve Kaczeus Talks Stick's Pale Ale

We spoke with Bootstrap Brewing owner and brewer Steve Kaczeus about Stick's Pale Ale.

BC: Who came up with this beer’s recipe?
I created it. I develop recipes based on the styles that I like to drink and balance them so that everyone will want to order more than one.

BC: What’s your favorite aspect of this beer (flavor, aroma, etc.)?
Aroma is very important to me as it sets the tone for the flavor I can expect so I did a lot of dry hopping on this beer to obtain the aroma I wanted.

BC: Where does this beer’s name come from?
My wife Leslie gave me the nickname "Stickman" early on in our relationship so Stick’s is named after me. A fun fact is that she asked the artists to hide a cartoon face of me on the can -- kind of a “Where’s Waldo" scenario! Try and look for me next time you're enjoying a can!

BC: Is this your “desert island beer?”
Absolutely -- that’s why it’s named after me.

BC: Can you describe this beer in 10 words or less?
Crispy, citrusy, hop-forward American Pale Ale.

BC: What's a good food pairing for this beer?
Anything fresh off the grill pairs well with this beer.
