Molten Lava was created by Owner/Brewmaster Matt Swihart in the early days of Double Mountain.

BC: What’s your favorite aspect of this beer (flavor, aroma, etc.)?
Our favorite aspect of this beer is the resinous, lupulin-laced aroma, which jumps out of the glass.

BC: Where does this beer’s name come from?
Molten Lava is the bigger, badder cousin of Hop Lava, our year-round IPA. We use the same ingredients, just more, more, more.

BC: Is this your “desert island beer?”
Molten Lava would not be our "desert island beer" if survival was a high priority.

BC: Can you describe this beer in 10 words or less?
Resinous, dry, boozy, dangerous, grassy, fruity, sticky, dank, rind-like, pithy.

BC: Do you know a story – or have a personal story – that revolves around this beer?
Occasionally we are able to collect the super hoppy final drippings from the dry hops, so keep your eyes peeled for Super Molten to get a taste of that. Space Molten is another story altogether...

BC: What's a good food pairing for this beer?
Good food pairings for Molten Lava are anything cooked over a fire by the river or New Haven, CT-style pizza.
